MPs differ on Jagan Mohan Reddy-PM Modi ties
Hyderabad: It is Y. Sujana Chowdary versus T.G. Venkatesh, both MPs who joined the BJP from the Telugu Desam recently. Both gave contradictory statements regarding AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s relations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
After the controversies on the Polavaram reverse tenders, cancellation of the power purchase agreements and recently, the AP capital Amaravati issues, YSRC MP V. Vijayasai Reddy said that AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was taking decisions after discussing them with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah.
Mr Chowdary condemned Mr Vijayasai Reddy’s statement, saying he was misleading the people by announcing that the central government had accepted the decisions taken by the AP CM. He warned the YSRC government that if it decided to change the AP capital Amaravati, people would revolt. He said that the state government can order a probe if there are any irregularities in the AP capital issue in the previous TD regime.
Contradicting Mr Chowdary’s statement, Mr Venkatesh said that Amaravati may not continue as the AP capital city and Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy has discussed this issue with the BJP high command. Mr Venkatesh claimed that the BJP high command had told him this. He also said that AP will have four capitals, at Vizianagaram, Kakinada, Guntur and Kadapa.
He said that a separate Rayalaseema movement may come in the future if, in the name of a capital, government concentrates development at one place.
With these statements, people are confused wheth-er Amaravati will continue as the AP capital or not.
