Tainted people on TTD board: Purandeswari
VIJAYAWADA: BJP AP president Daggubati Purandeswari on Saturday charged AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy with rehabilitating corrupt people on the board of Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
Speaking to media, she pointed out that one of the appointees Sarat Chandra Reddy has been involved in the liquor scam in Delhi. Another TTD member Ketan Desai had been dismissed as the head of Medical Council of India after Delhi High Court found him guilty of corrupt practices and abuse of power.
Purandeswari alleged that the AP CM does not believe in the sanctity of the board or the temple. She, however, maintained that appointing such people as members of TTD board members will harm reputation.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP leader G. Bhanu Prakash Reddy recalled that in 2019, as many as 81 people had been appointed as board members. But after the court intervened, members got reduced to 51. He demanded that the state government only appoint those who follow Hindu religious traditions.
BJP official spokesperson Lanka Dinakar said Jagan Mohan Reddy is more interested in his self-interest than TTD’s sanctity.
