Marri Rajasekhar Reddy Likely to be BRS Candidate for Malkajgiri Seat
HYDERABAD: The BRS is learnt to have given the go-ahead to Marri Rajasekhar Reddy to begin reaching out to people in Malkajgiri constituency indicating that he would be the party’s candidate from there for the coming Assembly elections.
Though the party is yet to make any official announcement to that extent, it is learnt that Rajasehkar Reddy and his father-in-law and minister Ch. Malla Reddy received enough hints that the former would replace Mynampally Hanumantha Rao, who quit the party after he was given the ticket for the Malkajgiri seat.
Rajasekhar Reddy and Malla Reddy held a large ‘bharosa’ rally in the constituency on Wednesday where they called on the people to continue supporting the BRS.
After the rally, Rajasekhar Reddy said, “It is for the party to take a decision on who will contest from Malkajgiri. As BRS leaders, it is our responsibility to assure the people of Malkajgiri that the party is with them. The huge turnout shows the extent people support Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, K.T. Rama Rao and the BRS.”
Referring to Mynampally quitting the party, Malla Reddy said the gap needs to be filled and the prospects of a ticket for Rajasekhar Reddy did not emerge because it was sought but because he enjoys the support of the people.
