Pawan Slams AP Government Over Rapes, Murder of Women, Girls

VIJAYAWADA: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday asked state government why it is remaining silent in cases of rape and murder of girls and women.

He wondered whether the government has no responsibility in dealing with such cases and ensuring safety. In a statement, the JS president questioned why the AP Chief Minister, home minister and women commission failed to react when an intermediate girl had been brutally murdered in Chittoor district.

Pawan Kalyan expressed doubts that Chittoor police are trying to water down severity of the case by claiming it as a suspicious death. He said he shares the anguish of the girl’s parents.

He demanded that culprits involved in the case must be taken to task. Referring to the gang rape of a minor Dalit girl at Lothugadda in Vizianagaram district, the Jana Sena chief expressed concern over such crimes being perpetrated on minors. He felt this reflects how safety for girls and maintenance of law and order in the state has been compromised.

He maintained that claims of ruling party about Disha act, Disha police stations and Disha app are proving untrue. He accused the state government of lacking in commitment towards providing protection to women and girls.
