Cong slams BJP over poaching attempt, says TRS set precedent
HYDERABAD: Leaders of the Congress, detailing how the TRS had previously poached its MLAs, said the BJP was “caught doing what TRS did after coming to power”.
On the alleged horse-trading attempts of the BJP, the Congress said that the BJP and the TRS had made a mockery of democracy through the unethical practice of poaching elected representatives.
CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that four TRS MLAs were seen to be in touch with the BJP, and that there may be many more.
“It is ironic that the TRS, which has set a precedent by poaching 12 Congress MLAs, is alleging that the BJP was making mockery of democracy. The BJP employs similar tactics across the country and has uprooted elected governments by buying MLAs of ruling party,” said Bhatti, during a media interaction in Makthal.
MLC T. Jeevan Reddy highlighted the political history of three of the four MLAs, saying they were previously Congress members.
“These three MLAs were chosen as they could be easily convinced, given the history of their defections. It is KCR’s conspiracy to damage the Opposition in the state. Both TRS and BJP candidates in Munugode should be disqualified and the Election Commission should take up the investigation,” he said.
