NELLORE: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy dedicated the third unit of Genco’s Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah thermal power plant at Nelaturu in Muthukur mandal of SPSR Nellore district, to the nation on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
He also laid foundation stones for Rs 25 crore estimated fishing jetty near Nelaturu and Rs 93 crore estimated submersible causeway between Mudivarthi and Mudivarthipalem on the occasion.
Addressing a large gathering of people from Sarvepalli constituency, he reminded that his father Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy had laid foundation stone for the thermal power plants in 2008 and he is fortunate to complete the project with the launching of the 3rd unit today.
He said the 3rd 800 MW unit is the first supercritical thermal plant in the government sector and it needs a lesser quantity of coal as a result the pollution is also much less compared to other units.
Jagan Mohan Reddy said they have spent Rs 3,200 crore during the last 3 years to complete the project while adding that government run thermal plants have been addressing 45 percent of power requirements in the state.
He said the new plant will contribute 19,000 million units to the AP grid.
CM claimed that they are providing quality power for domestic, industrial and consumers of other sectors apart from 9 hours power without a break to the farm sector.
He thanked the farmers of Muthukuru region for offering their lands for Krishnapatnam Port and Genco thermal Plants wishing for the development of the district.
He said they have already given jobs to 326 families who gave their lands to the projects and are also gearing up to recruit 150 more before the end of November this year.
While taking a dig at former CM N. Chandrababu Naidu for ignoring the displaced under these projects, Jagan said he is transferring Rs 36 crore to the accounts of 16,337 families as part of a non-fishermen package today as per the promise he made during elections.
He said Chandrababu Naidu paid only Rs 14,000 to 3,500 families in a bid to take them for a ride but they are extending the benefit to 12,787 families covering all the displaced.
Jagan Mohan Reddy said he sanctioned the submersible causeway on Penna river at Mudivarthi following a request made by Kovur legislator Nallapareddy Prasannakumar Reddy.
“The newly opened barrage at Nellor is named after Nallapareddy Srinivasulu Reddy at the instance of Prasannakumar Reddy,” Jagan announced.
He said the submersible causeway would stop back water (saltwater) coming from the sea and ensure drinking water availability to four mandals.
The CM sanctioned Rs 12 crore for a high level bridge between Venkatachalam Road to Tirumalamma palem and Rs 10 crore for a bridge across Nakkalakaluva for free movement of vehicles between Krishnapatnam Road to Pottempadu vila Brahmadevam.
