TD all-party meet calls for unity among society to uphold democratic values in AP
Vijayawada: Telugu Desam state president, K. Atchannaidu , on Tuesday said the time has come for all sections of the society to come on a common platform for upholding the values of democracy.
Wrapping up an all-party meet styled as 'State-sponsored Terrorism-Save Democracy' here, Atchannaidu said chief minister Jagan Reddy had made a promise to impose total prohibition and even included it in the YSRC election manifesto. But several people have lost their lives due to consumption of adulterated liquor in recent times.
The time has come for all the Opposition parties leaders to join hands and uphold democratic values. “We will fight unitedly if injustice is done to anyone,” he said and added that such platforms can be set up at all district, mandal and constituency levels too.
According to Atchannaidu, the Dalits, Muslims and other downtrodden sections have lost their freedom during Jagan Reddy's rule. The CM was adopting a vengeful attitude towards all these sections, he alleged and added, "If Jagan comes back to power, all these people will have to run away from the state."
He said a memorandum would be prepared and submitted to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) to highlight such “misrule”. An all-party committee would be formed to go and visit the victims of the recent unrest in Macherla.
The all-party meeting passed resolutions condemning the recent violent incidents in the state and decided to submit memoranda to the state governor and the CJI.
Resolutions were also passed to form a common platform to strengthen the fight for upholding democratic values, to stand by those who are affected by unilateral actions of the police and to organise various programmes to create awareness among the people.
