AIMIM to decide on BRS ties assessing TS actions
Hyderabad: The AIMIM, which formed an alliance with the BRS that lost the Telangana Assembly elections, seems to be taking a cautious approach in deciding the future of the alliance with the former ruling party in Telangana.
AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, responding to queries about the continuation of the alliance with BRS, stated, "It is too early to make any declarations. The elections are over, and we are uncertain about the upcoming Parliament elections. We will observe and assess the actions of the new government. It has been just about a month since the new government assumed power."
During the Telangana Assembly elections campaign, the AIMIM encouraged voters to support the BRS in constituencies where AIMIM did not field candidates. Out of the nine constituencies contested by AIMIM, it won seven.
In the Lok Sabha, the AIMIM has maintained a hold on the Hyderabad seat, with Owaisi representing it since 2004. Before Asaduddin contested the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from Hyderabad, his father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi held the seat, representing the constituency in the Lok Sabha from 1984 to 1999.
