Dokka demands probe into vote for note' case

VIJAYAWADA: YSR Congress MLC Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad demanded that the CID or the Enforcement Directorate conduct an investigation into a new case of ‘vote for note’ involving former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in order to save democracy in Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to reporters at the YSR Congress party headquarters on Monday, the MLC named Chandrababu Naidu as the main accused in the earlier vote for note scam in Telangana, as well as the new case in which four YSR Congress MLAs were influenced by offering them large sums of money to get their votes in the recently held MLC polls from MLAs quota, where Telugu Desam nominee was elected.

Referring to allegations made by Jana Sena MLA Rapaka Vara Prasad, who switched loyalties to the YSR Congress party, claiming that he was also offered money through some MLA by former CM Naidu and turned it down, the MLC felt the need to file a case against such people involved in fraudulent practises to influence voters.

Referring to the Telangana vote for note case, the MLC demanded an investigation into both the TS and AP cases involving former CM Naidu, as well as the arrest of those involved in such scams. He also wanted the ED to investigate the source of such a large sum of money and take harsh action against those responsible.

Remembering Naidu's role in the Viceroy Hotel episode, in which the late chief minister N.T. Rama Rao was humiliated, Naidu was continuing the same practise in the current political situation.

He slammed YSR Congress MLA Undavalli Sridevi for claiming innocence in the recent vote for note scam, claiming that she was speaking based on a script released by the Telugu Desam and expressing surprise at her claim that she was threatened with death by YSR Congress general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, all Dalits were safe in the state and lived with honour and dignity.
