Karnataka: Shivakumar asks Nadda to expel Yatnal for comments against Sonia Gandhi

Bengaluru: Former minister and BJP nominee for Vijayapura Assembly seat Basavanagouda Patil Yatnal’s remark ‘Vishakanye’ (The Poison Woman) against former president of AICC Sonia Gandhi, drew criticism from president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee D.K. Shivakumar who wanted BJP national president J.P. Nadda to expel Yatnal for the party over his remarks defaming a woman.

“By way of expulsion, BJP should show that it respects women,” he said at a press conference here and stated “I don’t want an apology from a rogue (Yatnal) but on his behalf Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai should tender an apology.”

Cautioning the BJP, Shivakumar wanted BJP to expel Yatnal from the party before people 'revolt' against him over his remark against Sonia Gandhi.

Shivakumar pointed out that Yatnal had also made ‘nasty’ comments on BJP leader and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa in the past as well and the Congress chief accused the BJP of ‘encouraging’ Yatnal in making nasty remarks on leaders.

He termed the Yatnal’s remark against Sonia Gandhi “an insult to the womanhood” and said that Sonia Gandhi refused to occupy the post of Prime Minister and ‘sacrificed’ the seat besides she lost her husband former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The KPCC chief also pointed out remarks made by BJP leaders against their leader Rahul Gandhi wherein he was termed a ‘hybrid calf.’ Besides, Rahul Gandhi was also disqualified as MP for a leader who trekked from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu to Kashmir in the north to unite people of the country.
