YSRC Celebrates NTR's Birth Centenary, Leaders Say Naidu Lacks Right To Claim Legacy
VIJAYAWADA: The YSR Congress celebrated the birth centenary of Telugu Desam founder NT Rama Rao here on Sunday and speakers at the event said “backstabber” Nara Chandrababu Naidu has no right to use NTR’s name and photo.
“Naidu was responsible for the untimely death of the great leader,” the YSRC leaders said.
Former ministers, YSRC MLAs etc, Velampalli Srinivasa, Perni Venkataramaiah, film director Ramgopal Varma, NTR’s wife Lakshmi Nandamuri Parvathi, Posani Krishna Murali, Devineni Avinash and others paid floral tributes to NTR and recalled his services to the Telugu people.
The programme was held under the auspices of NTR Vigyan Trust and Devineni Nehru Charitable Trust.
Lakshmi Parvathi said, “I am tired of fighting and fighting against the injustice done to NTR and none of his family members cared about this or about my distress and mental agony. Today many claim that they are the heirs of NTR. But those who are born to NTR are not the heirs but those who stood by NTR till his last breath are the true heirs. Devineni Nehru stood by NTR in his last days and hence Nehru is the true heir of NTR.”
Lakshmi Parvathi criticised Nara Lokesh, “who can't even speak properly and says that he is NTR’s heir.” She asked how miscreants who cheated NTR coul be his heirs. She said, “There is no person as mean as Chandrababu who backstabbed NTR for political gains that haunted NTR for the rest of his life.”
“Chandrababu insulted NTR many times. He has no right to put NTR's photos and use his name. Chandrababu buried NTR's aspirations.”
Director Ramgopal Varma said Chief Minister Jagan Reddy did well by naming a district after NTR. “I came here to tell a serious joke. That joke is currently happening in Rajahmundry. TD is holding the Mahanadu like a joke. Naidu who killed NTR is garlanding the photos and idols of the TD founder in the Mahanadu. Junior NTR is the only real hero resembling late NTR in that family and I am thanking Jr NTR for continuing with the senior’s legacy.”
AP film development corporation chairman and actor Posani Krishna Murali said NTR invited Lakshmi Paravathi into his life and married her. NTR had heart attacks three times due to the backstabbing of Naidu. I refute the allegations that Lakshmi Parvathi robbed the wealth of NTR. Rather, she lost her assets and wealth by serving NTR.”
Former minister Perni Venkataramaiah said none of the 11 children of NTR took the responsibility of caring for the veteran leader during his illness but they were now claiming legacy and helping Naidu who “backstabbed the great leader.”
Ex-minister Velampalli Srinivasa alleged that Naidu never sincerely backed the plea for Bharat Ratna for NTR when he was in power but he would raise the demand whenever he conducted the Mahanadu while in the Opposition.
YSRC east incharge Devineni Avinash, Vijayawada city mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi and other leaders addressed the meeting.
