Telangana farmers in dire straits, KCR cheated them: Kishan

HYDERABAD: Telangana farmers are in dire straits and the fact that more than 6,000 farmers committed suicide in the last nine years speaks volumes of the plight of farmers in the state,” Union minister and state BJP president G. Kishan Reddy said on Thursday.

Addressing a gathering of farmers at Shamirpet to mark the launch of PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendra programme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rajasthan, Kishan Reddy said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had made many promises to farmers but did not keep any of them. “There is no sign of the free fertilisers that he promised. Nothing has been heard about the Rs 10,000 per acre compensation to farmers whose crops were affected by rains. There is no input subsidy in the state, and the government here does not implement crop insurance scheme of the Central government,” Kishan Reddy said.

“This anti-farmer government must go. Give the BJP one chance and under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, we will provide a farmer-friendly government that will take into its fold farmers organisations also. Our government will turn Pragati Bhavan into a ‘Praja Pragati Bhavan,” he said.

Continuing his attack on the BRS government, Kishan Reddy said even the promise of 24-hour power supply to the agriculture sector has now been proven to be false. Farmers have also become victims of the Dharani portal, and some victims of Dharani portal have also committed suicide because they found that their lands have been robbed from them, he said.
