Khader right pick, says PK Kunhalikutty
Thiruvananthapuram: Muslim League national general secretary P. K. Kunhalikutty who recently moved to New Delhi winning Malappuram Lok Sabha by-election said in a lighter vein that it is easy being a politician in Kerala, but not in the national capital.
To hog the limelight at the national level, one needs to show flexibility, he said while participating in the meet-the-press series ‘Vengara Karyam’ at Kesari Hall here on Wednesday.
He maintained that Muslim League had not gone wrong in finalising K. N. A. Khader as its candidate. He said the media reports that the party was going to field his nominee U. A. Latheef caught him off guard.
"It is baseless that the Vengara by-poll is forced on voters. They came to know of the rebel candidate only through the media reports," the lawmaker said.
In the changed circumstances at the national level, he said, all leaders should unite, but it doesn't mean it would go soft on the CPM. He also praised the Opposition led by Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala, describing its protests as creative and instrumental.
"If BDJS decides to join hands with the UDF, we will not object to it. In the case of Kerala Congress (Mani) being brought back, the initiative is yet to come," he said.
