BENGALURU: Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday drew the attention of the State Government over the increase in unemployment in the State and wanted immediate steps to address the problem of unemployment.
A senior Congress party leader, Siddaramaiah, in a statement, stated that unemployment among graduate females is about 40 per cent while it is about 40 per cent among graduated males. Apprising the State Government that the rise in unemployment is alarming, he said, for a post invited, there are about 3,000 applicants waiting. Siddaramaiah wanted Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai to initiate suitable steps to address the issue of unemployment among youths of the State.
Regarding the scam in teachers' appointment, Siddaramaiah stated that seven persons in custody for their alleged involvement in the scam were appointed during the tenure of Bharatiya Janata Party government run by former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa in 2019 and at that time BJP leader Suresh Kumar was the Minister for Primary and Secondary Education.
The other persons accused in the scam, Siddaramaiah said, were appointed to the posts when the coalition government was in the State. Giving details on the posts filled-up during various tenures, Siddaramaiah wanted the State Government to initiate stringent action against the accused persons if charges were proved for their involvement in fraudulent activities.
The Congress leader said in the statement that he had given details on teachers' appointments with documents on September 23 at a press conference in Bengaluru. He appealed to the State Government not to mislead the public on teachers' scam by issuing false news to media persons and asked the investigating agency to keep the public updated with facts and figures on the scam.
