Cong leaders use services of LPG supply boys to popularise cylinder for Rs 500 scheme
ADILABAD: Congress leaders are using the 'services' of domestic LPG cylinder supply boys to popularise the party’s scheme that offers gas cylinders for Rs 500 to families if the party comes to power in Telangana.
During the distribution of guarantee cards to households, Congress leaders are making it a point to visit kitchens in houses and check whether the family is using the LPG cylinder or not, what is the status of their gas stove etc and collect other details.
Congress leaders are briefing the households about their scheme and convincing the women to vote for the Congress in the coming assembly elections. “The Congress party is offering various welfare schemes including the Mahalakshmi, Gruhajyoti, Indiramma houses, yjr Rythu Bharosa, the Yuva Vikasam Cheyutha etc, “ they explain.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders are meeting domestic gas supply boys and requesting them to explain to women about the benefits of the Congress LPG scheme.
Congress leaders claim that many women of lower income groups are attracted to the Congress offer as the gas cost has majorly increased.
Guptha Rakesh, a delivery boy in the Khanapur, Ambedkar Nagar, Kholipura and Kumarpet colonies here, said ‘Women are enthused about this.”
“Many women said that they used to get LPG cylinders for Rs 500 when the Congress was in power and some women asked about a similar scheme being implemented in Karnataka,” he added.
Suneetha of Durganagar of Mavala Grampanchayat said they were now using the LPG cylinder as a stand in the kitchen for keeping utensils on it since they were not having enough money to buy the gas.
Suneetha questioned how poor families could spend Rs 1,200 on LPG cylinders. Recently, the central government has reduced the LPG price by Rs 200 per cylinder.
Gudipalli Nagesh, Congress party’s Adilabad town president, said they were getting good response to the six-point guarantees the party announced in the run-up to the polls.
Radha Bai of Bheemsari village in Adilabad Rural mandal said many poor families have stopped refilling their LPG cylinders due to the high price.
