Lokesh Postpones Yuvagalam Padyatra

VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam general secretary Nara Lokesh has postponed the resumption of his ‘Yuvagalam Padayatra’ and would first deal with the legal issues related to him and his father.

TD president Chandrababu Naidu is serving judicial remand in the central prison and is facing several cases of corruption. Cases are being booked against Lokesh too in some of these charges.

A statement from staet TD chief K. Atchannaidu on Thursday said several cases foisted against Naidu and Lokesh were coming up for hearing in the courts. Hence, the presence of Lokesh was needed for consultations with lawyers. The padayatra would be postponed. It would be resumed later, he said.

TD leaders said Lokesh was unlikely to return to the state soon. He was camping in New Delhi to seek support for his father from the leaders of various political parties and for consultations with senior advocates. In case he arrived in AP, the police might arrest him as is an accused in the case of irregularities in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road.

In AP, Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneswari and Lokesh’s wife Brahmani are visiting the camps being held by the TD cadre to express their protest against the arrest of Naidu.

Later in the day, TD MLA Gorantla Butchaiah told the media in Rajahmundry that the YSRC government could do nothing with TD leaders including Naidu and Lokesh other than booking some cases against them. The YSRC government was playing vindictive politics and it was nervous about the combination of Naidu, Lokesh and Jana Senan chief Pawan Kalyan facing the YSRC in the upcoming polls, he said.
