BJP releases chargesheet against TRS
HYDERABAD: Close on the heels of releasing its manifesto for the Munugode Assembly constituency byelection, the BJP on Thursday sought to ratchet up pressure on the ruling party in the ongoing campaign for the November 3 bypoll by releasing a chargesheet against the TRS government.
The chargesheet, said Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri, who released it at a press conference, was to inform the people so they understand how Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his TRS government had not kept its promises not just for Munugode but for the rest of the state as well.
"When the Chief Minister and his son K.T. Rama Rao come here for the campaign, they must answer these questions," Arvind said, adding that it was laughable that the TRS working president and minister had now promised to adopt the constituency.
“What stopped him from doing so in the past eight years," Arvind asked. The chargesheet, he said, was to remind the TRS that it had not keep a single promise that it had made to the people.
Has the government provided irrigation to a single additional acre in Munugode, Arvind asked, pointing out that it had promised to bring an additional one lakh acres under irrigation in every district in the state.
Farmers in the Munugode Assembly constituency, as in the rest of the state, had not got the farm loan waiver. None of the farmers had got even a single rupee of compensation for crop losses. "This is a constituency where 50 per cent of the voters are from the farming community," Arvind said.
In its manifesto, the BJP had promised road development, a textile park, and a fluoride research centre for the constituency. The manifesto had 28 promises including a 100-bed hospital. Also promised was a lift irrigation project on the Musi and an ITI for Choutuppal.
