3 of ex-MLA's family in election fight for Mudhole
Adilabad: Three members of the former MLA’s extended family are crossing swords against each other for the Assembly elections from Mudhole. Ex-MLA Narayanrao Patel has got a Congress ticket while his cousin Ramarao Patel was nominated by BJP from Mudhole.
Narayanrao’s brother Mohan Rao Patel also aspired for a BJP ticket but was denied and announced his support to BJP candidate Ramarao Patel. The relationship between them had been strained for a long time. All three leaders are prominent businessmen in the Mudhole area in the Nirmal.
People of the constituency are interestingly observing the family politics being played by the above leaders against MLA G. Vittal Reddy of the ruling BRS.
Both lobbied for a Congress ticket. But Ramarao Patel contested on a Congress ticket while Narayanarao Patel on an NCP ticket in the 2018 elections from Mudhole. Then, Ramarao joined the BJP in 2022 and Narayanrao Patel recently joined the Congress and both got party tickets this time.
K. Villas of Bhainsa said the family politics by ‘Patels’ in Mudhole turned out to be interesting with members of the same family fighting against each other from different parties.
Narayanarao is also trying to bring AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi as chief guest for a public meeting in Mudhole.
