All social groups given special recognition under Jagan's government: Appala Raju

Kakinada: Fisheries minister Sidiri Appala Raju has said all social groups in the state have been given special recognition by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in the past four and half years of the YSRC rule.

The BCs, STs, SCs and Minorities have been given equal importance vis-a-vis other castes in relation to offering top posts in the government and various corporations. These sections have been empowered politically and financially, he said.

Appala Raju, BC welfare minister S.V. Gopalakrishna, former minister and Rajya Sabha member Mopidevi Venkataramana, transport minister Pinepe Viswaroop, Narsapuram MLA Prasada Raju, MLC Pothula Sunitha and others undertook the Samajika Sadhikaritha Yatra (Social Empowerment Yatra) by bus on Friday. The yatra started at Mogalturu in West Godavari district in the evening.

Appala Raju said that for the past 75 years, BCs and SCs were denied a chance for social and political empowerment. “But Jagan Mohan Reddy has given them high importance. But the puppets of Chandrababu Naidu have criticised the empowerment of downtrodden classes,” he said.

The minister alleged that not even a single minority leader held a cabinet post during Chandrababu’s term.

He criticised the former finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu for not asking the highest authorities to provide social justice to the BCs.”

He said that the present chief minister has accorded dignity to the downtrodden sections and resolved that no single poor person should not live in poverty. The Bus Yatra has got a huge response from the people. The yatra covered 17 km through the Narsapur constituency.

Minister Gopalakrishna said that during the 53 months of the Jagan rule, the SCs, STs, BCs and minorities have become “social revolutionaries,’’ and the YSRC government improved the living standards of the downtrodden sections. “Chandrababu Naidu suppressed the BCs during his rule,” he alleged.

Rajya Sabha member Mopidevi Venkataramana said though evidence showed Chandrababu was involved in the skill development scam, TD leaders and some media entities were attempting to whitewash Chandrababu Naidu’s actions.

Minister Viswaroop said that political parties used to see BCs as their vote banks, but Jagan Reddy has given them political empowerment and provided them with several top posts.

MLC Pothula Sunitha said that Jagan Mohan Reddy has given 17 minister posts to SCs, STs, BCs and Minorities and four Rajya Sabha seats. MLA Prasada Raju said '1650 crore was spent for the welfare of the people of Narsapur constituency during the YSRC rule. “Some '4,000 crore of development works was taken up in the constituency.”
