Attack on TN CPI office flayed

Chennai: The attack on Balan Illam, the State headquarters of the CPI in Chennai’s T Nagar, by some miscreants who hurled bottles and stones on Friday night came in for severe criticism from different political parties that wanted action against the culprits immediately though police swung into action and arrested six persons..

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami pointed out that the CPI was an ally of the ruling DMK and said that no one in the State was safe and that the incident was a pointer to his long time allegation that law and order had totally collapsed.

The entire group of six was rounded up by the police with the help of evidence gathered from CCTV recordings and among the arrested was a habitual offender Vignesh.

CPM State secretary K Balakrishnan condemned the attack and demanded severe action against the culprits and CPI State secretary R Mutharasan also expressed concern over the incident.
