Anil Kumar denies role in attack on TD Nellore in-charge
Nellore: Former minister P. Anil Kumar Yadav has denied his involvement in the attack on Telugu Desam Nellore City segment in-charge Kotamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy on Saturday night. Srinivasulu Reddy had suffered multiple fractures to his leg when a car being driven by a youth, N.V. Rajasekhar Reddy, hit him in front of his house. TD leaders have alleged that YSRC leaders have stage-managed the attack.
TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, Hindupur MLA N. Balakrishna, former minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, and TD state president Atchnnaidu inquired about Srinivasulu Reddy’s condition and the suspected role of the ruling party in it.
In light of this, Yadav told the media on Sunday that he had nothing to do with the incident. He shared a video footage with the media to justify his claim.
In the video clipping, Srinivasulu Reddy and his son are seen having an argument with Rajasekhar Reddy, who subsequently drives his car into them. Though the TD leader’s son manages to escape, Srinivasulu Reddy suffers injuries to his leg. The video footage shows Rajasekhar Reddy speeding away in his car.
Nellore City police arrested Rajasekhar Reddy on Sunday evening and produced him before the media. Nellore town DSP told reporters that Srinivasulu Reddy’s sons, Prajaisena Reddy and Rajasekhar Reddy, have been personal rivals right from their college days.
The DSP maintained that the accused was not under the influence of liquor when the incident occurred, and it has nothing to do with politics. He said they had booked an attempted murder case against Rajasekhar Reddy.
Meanwhile, Srinivasulu Reddy’s wife, Sandhya, also alleged that the attack on her husband was politically motivated.
