Congress Will Work Sincerely for People, Says Priyanka
Hyderabad: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi came down heavily on Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his family members on the final day of campaigning on Tuesday and made a fervent appeal to the people to elect the Congress which she said would work sincerely for the people.
"I look forward to the day when I can return to Telangana after the Congress forms the government and proudly say that we have realised all our aspirations," Priyanka Gandhi said at multiple election rallies.
She accused Rao and his family of indulging in corruption siphoning thousands of crores of public money in the name of irrigation projects, and collecting commissions from small businesses to big industrialists.
“Corruption has seeped into every corner of the BRS government,” the Congress alleged, adding that Rao and his members will hold all the revenue-generating portfolios in the Cabinet, and build huge mansions and farmhouses leaving people in the lurch.
She said hundreds of people, especially youth, sacrificed their lives demanding statehood for Telangana but only Rao's family was reaping the benefits of state formation.
“Telangana is perhaps the only state where the government operates from the CM's farmhouse,” she said.
Stating that the youth were vexed with the BRS government, she appealed to voters to decide whether they wanted a BRS government that was plagued by corruption and family rule or a Congress government that sincerely worked for the people.
She accused the BRS government of failing to provide any benefits to women and youth. “Lack of government jobs recruitment, leakage of TSPSC question papers, exposes the failures of the BRS government.”
Priyanka Gandhi alleged that the BJP and the BRS have become rich parties in the last 10 years while people have become poorer. "The BJP and the BRS are the richest parties. How did they earn such huge money within 10 years? It is not through hard work but by siphoning funds meant for farmers, women, and youth” she said.
Priyanka Gandhi alleged that the BRS, BJP, and the AIMIM are in a 'coalition' on one side, while the Congress and the people of Telangana were on the other side. She said AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi targeted not Prime Minister Narendra Modi but Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who had gone on the Bharat Jodo Yatra to unite the country against divisive politics.
