Telangana: Non-resident Voters Head Home to Cast Vote in Polls

Hyderabad: NRIs and Telangana natives from different corners of the globe are converging to the Telugu state as it prepares to choose its next government in the state Legislative Assembly elections on Thursday.

Coming from Chennai is one such voter, Srilatha, who says that each vote matters. “I am willing to make the journey to ensure my voice is heard,” she said.

Shalini Pandey, an NRI residing in the US, said: “The value of each vote is immeasurable… it's a responsibility that goes beyond borders. Even though I live miles away, casting my vote ensures my decision shapes Telangana's future.”

Sai Kumar Maroju, who is making the long trip from the UK, said: “The long journey is not just a challenge but a testament to the unwavering commitment… this is where I grew up, where my memories are rooted and where my entire family is. Voting is not just a duty, it’s a connection to my identity. However, I also happened to see my family after a long gap. The journey is a small price to pay for being part of Telangana's democratic process.”

“Every vote counts and my presence at the polling booth is a personal promise. Every time there are elections, I will make sure to attend and cast my vote. It's almost been 10 years that I am utilising my vote,” said Jashwanth Reddy.
