3 major parties strong in Zaheerabad LS seat
Nizamabad: Three major political parties are equally strong in the Zaheerabad Lok Sabha constituency and each of them could win the seat in parliament.
The Lok Sabha constituency is spread over Kamareddy and Sangareddy districts, comprising the seven assembly constituencies of Kamareddy, Yellareddy, Jukkal, Banswada, Andole, Narayanakhed and Zaheerabad.
Sitting MP B.B. Patil is hopeful of getting the BRS ticket and winning the seat for the third time, scoring a hat trick. Patil is an industrialist and resident of Sirpur village in Madnoor mandal of Jukkal assembly constituency. He entered politics and won the Lok Sabha seat in 2014 and 2019 elections.
However, in an attempt to widen its base in the country earlier, BRS had proposed to field B.B. Patil from Nanded Lok Sabha constituency in the neighbouring Maharashtra state. But a defeat in assembly general elections is expected to compel BRS into re-nominating B.B. Patil from Zaheerabad parliament constituency, so that it can retain this seat. There is tough competition within the BJP from this seat. BJP state executive committee member Medapati Prakash Reddy, who is native of Humnapur village in Varni mandal of Banswada assembly constituency is hopeful of getting the MP ticket.
He had been a strong contender for Bodhan BJP MLA ticket. But the party high command reportedly assured that it will field him from Zaheerabad Lok Sabha constituency.
Former MP Suresh Kumar Shetkar is confident of getting the Congress ticket from the seat. Former MP M. Baga Reddy’s son Jaipal Reddy and Ale Narendra’s son Ale Bhaskar Raj are also aspiring for a ticket from this Lok Sabha constituency.
