HYDERABAD: The BJP Kisan Morcha demanded that the state government release Rs 50,000 per acre compensation for crop damage cause by the untimely rains and hailstorms earlier this month.
Kisan Morcha state president K.Sridhar Reddy and other leaders met the agriculture commissioner here on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum with the demand.
Chilli, maize and paddy crops and orchards were damaged due to the rains, they said. A team of senior officials should be sent to survey the damage at the survey number, farmer and village level, they said. Compensation should be given to the orchid and vegetable farmers as per market rates.
The BJP Kisan Morcha leaders demanded that the government implement Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) scheme in Telangana state.
