TS leaders playing active role in Karnataka poll campaign
HYDERABAD: Telangana leaders are busy with election campaigns in neighboring Karnataka state, where polling is scheduled on May 10. BJP and Congress leaders are camping in rural and urban areas of Karnataka. Though BRS leaders maintained cordial relations with JD (S), after the announcement of poll schedule no BRS leader is directly involved in the election campaign.
Interestingly, BJP and Congress leaders of the state are maintaining close rapport with their counterparts in Karnataka. Based on regional and social equations, the high commands of national parties sent their leaders to Bengaluru and other cities for campaign. Both Congress and BJP leaders are hopeful that the verdict in Karnataka will have an impact in Telangana.
While BJP national vice-president D.K. Aruna is playing an active role in Karnataka, her party colleagues from Telangana Bandi Sanjay Kumar, K. Laxman, G. Vivek Venkatswamy and other leaders are also camping there.
The AICC has appointed TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy as a star campaigner of Karnataka elections. MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Kusuma Kumar, among others have been entrusted with campaign responsibilities.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, BJP national executive committee member Venkatswamy said that BJP will retain power in Karnataka. There is an overwhelming response from the people for BJP candidates in various Assembly constituencies, he said. Integrated developmental activities and welfare schemes introduced by the BJP government have had a positive impact on voters, he said.
