YSRC-defected MLAs in a fix after Centre's disinclination

The TD is looking for a leader who will be capable of coordinating with all the sections in the present changed scenario.

Vijayawada: YSRC-defected TD MLAs have landed in a dilemma, following the Union Government’s disinclination towards delimitation of Assembly constituencies.

On the other hand, the TD national chief is also worried a lot, as it would be difficult to field defected MLAs from the constituencies they are representing now.

Ongoing resentment among several TD leaders across the state would be further intensified in the wake of the latest developments, said a senior leader from TD national headquarters.

Almost all YSRC MLAs, who have defected into the ruling Telugu Desam, seems to be in restless in the state with this latest decision of the Union government and they are more worried about their future in TD and also in their constituencies.

During shifting their party loyalties, though almost all of them claimed that they were joining the TD without any pre-condition and were only to support development agenda of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, each one of them was assured certain benefits.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, in the capacity of party national president and national general secretary, respectively, have been trying hard to convince that the future of defected MLAs would be protected in 2019, and most of them would be given seats.

However, the TD headquarters is more worried about the existing TD in-charges of those Assembly segments, as they may revolt against the high command, in case they are not considered for MLA seats.

The differences have started already between the defected MLAs and Assembly segment’s TD in-charges on several issues, which would be a headache to the TD leadership.

On the other hand, the TD is working hard to pick experienced and tough leader to be the AP TD president as the existing president Kala Venkata Rao had moved to the Cabinet.

The TD is looking for a leader who will be capable of coordinating with all the sections in the present changed scenario. In the wake of Centre’s disinclination towards delimitation of constituencies, the TD needs a tough president for the party state unit. This is very crucial period for the TD to selecting efficient leadership in view of the 2019 elections.
