Amalapuram: Jana Sena cadres protest against minister Jogi Ramesh

KAKINADA: Jana Sena leaders and workers in Amalapuram have staged a protest over the remarks by Housing Minister Jogi Ramesh against Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan. Ramesh visited Amalapuram in BR Ambedkar Konaseema district to participate in the swearing-in of the market committee executive members on Friday.

Jana Sena workers staged a dharna and picketed the Clock Tower Centre in Amalapuram. They raised slogans against Jogi Ramesh by holding placards and wearing black badges. They tried to burn an effigy of Jogi Ramesh, but the police foiled the attempt.

The police led the minister by taking a different route. The Town police took 34 agitators into custody and seized a car that carried the minister's effigy. Councillors Vakapalli Venkateswara, Padala Nanaji, party leaders L Pandu, RDS Prasad, Naga Manasa, Malkipuram MPP Medicharla Satyaveni, MPTCs Jakkampudi Sridevi, Polisetti Annapurna and others were present.

Earlier, the police made preventive arrests of the Jana Sena floor leader in the municipal council Yedida Srinu, JS leader Akula Suryanarayana and others. JS district president Kandula Durgesh criticised the SP against the “illegal” arrests.

Jana Sena Amalapuram in charge Settibathula Raja along with his cadres staged a dharna in front of the police station seeking the release of Jana leaders and activists. Cops arrested Rajababu, party leader Akula Bujji and others.

Jana Sena Veera Mahilas and cadres from other constituencies rushed to Amalapuram to stage a protest.
