Five crore job in MSME in five years: Nitin Gadkari
Chennai: Union minister for road transport & highway and shipping and micro, small and medium enterprises Nitin Gadkari the Centre is planning to introduce a grievance redressal mechanism for MSME, on the lines of NCLT.
Addressing a meeting -Wtalk in Chennai on Saturday - he said the government is working on it. Most important problem is payment and it is seriously thinking on these lines. A committee has been working this.
The MSME should get payment within 45 days of supplying the materials and getting payment at appropriate time is most important.
Pointing out significance of the MSMEs, he said “they are important for the growth of the nation. About 29 per cent of GDP comes from MSME and it contributes 49 per cent of export in the country. It provide employment opportunities to 11 crore persons so far. This is a growth engine for the country”.
The ministry has devised plan to increase the growth from 29 per cent to 50 per cent in the GDP and export from 49 per cent to 60 per cent and to create new five crore job in the country in the five years, he said.
The government is promoting waterways since cost of travel in the waterways in very cheap. Travelling by road would cost Rs 10, by railway it is Rs 6 and by waterways it is only Rs 1.
We have to reduce the logistic cost. Logistic cost in China is 10 to 12 per cent, 12 to 14 per cent in European countries and in India it is more than 18 per cent.
Similarly, cost of power also must be reduced in the country.
The government has planned to launch an e commerce portal, similar to Alibaba, soon. As India is fastest growing economy in the world, the new portal would benefit the industries and MSMEs.
He said “We want to take Khadi garments to the globe as there is good market for the textile. Regarding this discussion was held with designers”.
Chairman, National Industrial Redressal and Sick Units, Roopa Rai said the leather industries are facing serious crisis. The government should help and revive the industry.
