AICC doing flash survey on candidates in over 30 assembly constituencies in TS
Adilabad: AICC and state Congress leaders in Telangana are holding a ‘flash survey’ separately to gauge public opinion on the candidates in nearly 30-35 assembly constituencies where several candidates are in the race for party tickets.
Leaders whose names were short-listed in the recently held screening committee meetings have intensified party programmes including the distribution of ‘guarantee cards’ for six schemes to the people in their respective assembly constituencies.
TPCC general secretary Durgam Bhaskar, who applied for the party ticket for the Chennur seat reserved for SCs said he rushed to the constituency to meet the people by cancelling his trip to Delhi to meet Congress leaders, after knowing about flash surveys.
Party leaders said there was a delay in finalising the candidates in 30-35 assembly constituencies as no consensus has emerged among the screening committee members on who the candidates should be.
Some leaders in the screening committee wanted to go for a fresh survey without solely depending on the survey reports submitted by the party’s political strategist Sunil Kanugolu.
Faced with odds, AICC is conducting a flash survey to assess the positive and negative financial position of each aspirant and the strength of their service to the party. The seniority of the shortlisted aspirants and of the other aspirants is also being considered.
Members of the flash surveys have started their work in various constituencies like Chennur, Adilabad and Boath in erstwhile Adilabad district, party sources said.
