Congress high command begins efforts to retain hurt Medak leaders

Hyderabad: In the backdrop of BRS MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao and his son, Mynampally Social Service Organisation (MSSO) chairman Mynampally Rohith joining in Congress, the party high command has begun appeasement of senior leaders.

Medak DCC president Tirupati Reddy was invited to Delhi on Thursday for discussions.

Around a dozen candidates had applied for the Medak MLA ticket. DCC president Tirupati Reddy, TPCC official spokesperson Myadam Balakrishna, former MLA Shashidhar Reddy and party leader Chowdary Suprabhath aspired for the MLA ticket. But, the arrival of Malkajgiri BRS MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao in the Congress from the BRS, in the hope of getting the MLA ticket for himself and his son Mynampally Rohith, raised an alarm among the other ticket aspirants in the Congress.

Hanumantha Rao and his son Rohith joined the Congress in the presence of AICC president Mallikharjun Kharge in New Delhi on Thursday night. TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, AICC in-charge for Telangana Manik Thakre, senior leaders Mohammad Shabbir, Ponguleti Srinivas and others were present.

Following the joining of Hanumantha Rao and Rohith in the Congress, celebrations erupted in Medak assembly constituency. Party leaders and followers from Mynampally took part in the celebrations. They said the political equations in undivided Medak district will change now.

However, TPCC leaders urged the local leaders to cooperate with Mynampally Rohith.
