Jungle training toughest, say officers
Hyderabad: IPS probationers learnt management of Metro Rail security and international sports events and IT crimes and other related frauds during their course at the National Police Academy.
“After studying the changing security needs, we designed certain courses or modules for the cadets. During their training here they went to Delhi and studied how the Metro Rail security is taken care of. Several cities are switching over Metro Rail to cater to their transport needs and security is an important issue,” said Ms D.R. Doley Barman, director, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy.
Training in crowd management at international cricket matches, concerts and events was included in the course. For practice the probationers were taken to the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Uppal.
The toughest part of their course, according to the probationers, was the Greyhounds training at thick forests. It included staying in the jungle for a week and surviving on a water bottle the whole day, trekking on uneven paths, and staying in camps.
