TRS to intensify campaign in Munugode, to camp 60 ministers, MLAs, MLCs till bypoll
Hyderabad: The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which is going all out to win the Munugode Assembly bypoll, has decided to camp ministers, MLAs, MLCs numbering over 60 in Munugode until the bypoll is over. The party leadership has also decided to intensify campaigning for Munugode bypoll after the Ganesh festival celebrations in September.
Party sources said these decisions were taken at the meeting convened by party president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao with senior party leaders at Pragathi Bhavan on Sunday and Monday.
The Chief Minister is learnt to have expressed his willingness to address his second public meeting in the Munugode constituency at Chandur in September. Chandrashekar Rao is planning to announce more funds for development and welfare schemes in Munugode. It may be recalled that the Chief Minister addressed his first public meeting in Munugode on August 20.
As of now, the entire Munugode bypoll campaign is being handled by energy minister G. Jagadish Reddy, who is also in-charge minister for Nalgonda district besides MLAs and MLCs of undivided Nalgonda district.
However, the CM is learnt to have opined that this will not be sufficient and the party needs to intensify its campaign after Ganesh celebrations from September second week by camping ministers, MLAs and MLCs.
"It was decided to appoint a minister as in-charge for each of the seven mandals in Munugode constituency. The CM also asked ministers to work as incharges for two municipalities. MLAs and MLCs will be appointed as in-charge for gram panchayat. Each MLA and MLC will be made in-charge for two or three gram panchayats. They have to camp in the constituency until the bypoll is over," sources added.
There are seven mandals, two municipalities and 157 gram panchayats in the Munugode Assembly constituency.
The party gathered caste-wise data of voters — village-wise and mandal-wise — to appoint in-charges from those castes who could woo the voters of their castes and garner their support for the TRS.
