Congress BC leaders seek 34 Assembly tickets; Revanth, Mynampally meet Rahul

HYDERABAD: TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy along with BRS Malkajgiri MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao, son Rohith, and BRS former MLA Vemula Veeresham met Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in Delhi on Friday.

BRS MLC Kasireddy Narayan Reddy is expected to join Congress in a day or two. Hanumanth Rao, Rohith, and Veeresham joined Congress in the presence of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday.

Hanumanth Rao claimed that he had joined Congress after the party high command him and his son tickets for the upcoming Assembly polls. He said that Rahul Gandhi expressed happiness over their joining the party and felt that it would help Congress strengthen further in Telangana.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders from the Backward Class communities from Telangana met AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal. The delegation comprising 40 leaders discussed the issue of allotting 34 tickets to the community, at the rate of two per Lok Sabha constituency.

In the delegation were TPCC working president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, former MPs V. Hanumantha Rao and Ponnam Prabhakar, and former ministers Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Shabbir Ali. They requested Venugopal to include Shabbir Ali and Suresh Shetkar in the candidates selection committee.

Venugopal said that the selection process was going on and promised to allot tickets to as many candidates from the BC community as possible.

Later, the leaders met AICC Telangana affairs incharge Manikrao Thakre, and AICC secretary Rohit Chaudhary and discussed on allotment of tickets to BC community candidates.
