Khammam: Morning walks for fitness also occasion some loud thinking and discussions on matters of public interest. Some of those on the walk in Khammam and Dammapet on Thursday, for instance, focused their attention on the alleged attempt by BJP to “buy” up TRS legislators.
M Naveen Kumar, a software employee working in the IT-Hub in Khammam, felt: “There are many blanks in the allegation made by the TRS MLAs that they were being promised as high as `100 crore if they joined the BJP. I remember that the TRS had shown some video clippings to substantiate evidence in the Revanth Reddy case, long ago; but there is no such solid evidence in the present case.”
Curiously, this is the main topic of discussion among several groups that come for the morning walk at various parks in the Khammam Municipal Corporation area.
The instances of MLAs changing parties after the elections in various states including Telangana came for discussion during the brisk walk.
Another subject for discussion was the distribution of currency notes in Munugode by some political parties to win more votes for their candidates.
N Babu Rao, retired employee of SCCL, said, “What is the credibility of MLAs who switch sides? No ethics?”
B Bhaskar, retired headmaster, said, “Poll reforms are a must to check such indulgences. The anti-defection law must be made more effective. No MLA should be allowed to switch party. If an MLA is not happy with his party, he must resign the seat. Period. We had seen Congress MLAs being purchased by the ruling party.”
Sadasiva Rao, retired teacher in Dammapet, said, “We are disturbed by hearing such news. No party is an exception and no party has credibility today. There must be law to avert such situations in future.''
Ramesh, a doctor in Mandalapalli in Dammapet mandal, said, “Change should come among the voters too. They should stop taking money from candidates in the name of exercising their franchise.”
