Nizamabad: BRS activists attacked the personal staff of BJP MLA candidate Endala Laxminarayana in Banswada on Tuesday night. A group of persons reached the camp office of Laxminarayana and attacked his drivers. They also damaged the furniture in the office. Laxminarayana, who was sleeping in the office, complained to the police about the attack.
When the police reached the spot, the accused fled the scene. Laxminarayana alleged that fearing defeat in the elections, Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy was instigating his followers to attack his staff and followers and the BJP leaders in Banswada.
Laxminarayana staged a protest in front of the Banswada DSP office on Wednesday night demanding the arrest of Pocharam’s son Pocharam Bhaskar Reddy, alleging that the latter, along with BRS activists, attacked their house. Police registered a case against Bhaskar Reddy but did not arrest him, he said.
Meanwhile, BJP state president and union minister G. Kishan Reddy condemned the attack on the BJP candidate’s camp office. He alleged that the KCR-led government failed on all fronts in the past ten years and lost credibility among people. Kishan alleged that attacks were carried out at the behest of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to scare the BJP candidates.
BJP national vice president D.K. Aruna said that the atrocities of Speaker Pocharam and his sons were increasing in the constituency. BRS candidates were trying to win the elections by resorting to violence. The accused should be arrested immediately and security should be increased for Laxminarayana, she demanded.
