Andhra Pradesh: Anganwadis attempt to besiege ministers' houses

They made it clear that they would continue their protest till there was a response from the government

Amaravati: The Anganwadi workers and ayahs, who had been protesting for the last 19 days, intensified their agitation and laid siege to several ministers' residences at various places across the state.

In Guntur, the anganwadis who turned up in large numbers from nearly four constituencies besieged minister Vidadala Rajani's house.

They made it clear that they would continue their protest till there was a response from the government. To this, the minister assured the protesters that she would take the issue to the notice of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

In Markapuram of Prakasam district, the anganwadis laid siege to minister Suresh's camp office. Raising slogans against the YSRC government and the CM, they tried to barge into the premises of the office which led to some jostling and anxious moments forcing the police to enter into the scene.

Meanwhile, the police aborted the bid to besiege minister Usha Sricharan's house. The protesters were on their way to Kalyanadurgam from Anantapur when the police obstructed their vehicles and arrested them. Later, they were shifted to the police station and the anganwadis staged a dharna there.

In Tirupati, police prevented the protesters from proceeding to minister Peddireddy's house following which they staged a sit-in on the road at the West Church.

The protesters also tried to lay siege to minister Botsa Satyanarayana's house in Vizianagaram.
