TD sees motive in Jagan reiterating Vizag as capital

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam AP president K. Atchannaidu has described Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as “psycho” for raising the issue of Visakhapatnam as capital while the case is pending in the Supreme Court.

Atchannaidu recalled that before 2019 elections, Jagan had made it clear that Amaravati will be the only capital of the state. To demonstrate this, the then leader of opposition built a house in Amaravati. Tom-tomming that Amaravati will remain the capital all over AP, he went on to win the assembly elections.

“Now that Jagan Mohan Reddy has become the Chief Minister, he is trying to divide Andhra Pradesh once again,” the TD state president declared.

He maintained that High Court has ruled that on a state government having no power to legislate on the matter of the state capital. He claimed that the highest court in state has also clarified that Amaravati will remain the only capital.

“Now the Supreme Court is hearing the Amaravati case, the “psycho” CM has gone to Delhi. At a summit, he has stated that Visakhapatnam is the only capital of Andhra Pradesh and the government will be shifting soon,” Atchannaidu remarked.

He said when there is a debate going on all over the country about CBI intensifying its investigation into the murder case of Chief Minister’s uncle Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy and Jagan's brother MP Avinash Reddy being arrested anytime, the CM is trying to divert the attention from Viveka murder case by raising the issue of Vizag as capital.
