Sudhish's announcement of portfolios irks PWA cadres
TIRUNELVELI: The arbitrary announcement of deputy chief minister’s post to the MDMK leader Vaiko and cabinet posts to the other three PWA (People’s Welfare Alliance) leaders by the DMDK leader Vijayakanth’s brother-in-law, L K Sudhish at a DMDK-PWA election campaign meeting at Kovilpatti on Tuesday night has irritated the cadres of PWA constituent parties.
”Sudhish, a political amateur arbitrarily announcing the deputy chief minister’s post to Vaiko, one of the senior politicians in the state in a public meeting is a great insult to us,” said an MDMK functionary in Tirunelveli district. Even the PWF leaders on stage were shocked to hear the DMDK’s youth wing secretary’s announcement, he added.
Murugan, the deputy president of the CPI (M) affiliated road transportworkers association opined that the Left parties joining hands with the DMDK through the PWA, has no other option “but to stomach all such foolish politics of the DMDK”.
“On what stature did Sudhish made this announcement? asked a comrade in Kovilpatti, who himself added, “If Sudhish feels he has the privilege to make such announcements on his capacity as the brother-in-law of the DMDK chief Vijayakanth, it would only help the PWA lose its credibility as an alternative front to the DMK and AIADMK, where nepotism rule the roost. The CPI functionary hence demanded Sudhish to withdraw his statement at the Kovilpatti meeting.
Moreover, it has been said that it is undemocratic to announce Cabinet posts even before announcing the names of candidates and the constituencies to be contested by each of the parties for the May 16 Assembly elections.
