Dr Parivendhar begins work in Perambalur from day 1
Tiruchy: The founder of the India Jananayaga Katchi (IJK) and noted educationist Dr Parivendhar alias Pachamuthu, who won the Perambalur Lok Sabha seat in the recent Lok Sabha elections on the DMK symbol, has begun focusing on his constituency from day one.
Mr. Parivendhar, addressing a press conference at Tiruchy on Thursday said he has made three promises during his campaigning, namely providing higher education to 50 eligible students each from all the six Assembly constituencies coming under the Perambalur Lok Sabha constituency free of cost through SRM group of institutions, second to provide job opportunities to 300 unemployed youth from all the six assembly segments every year, and the third one to purchase agriculture products like vegetables at the doorsteps of the farmers of his constituency at reasonable price and utilise them in his group of hotels and college hostels.
Mr. Parivendhar said these three schemes would be implemented from his own funds; the free higher education scheme to 300 eligible students will be taken up immediately as the admission process should be completed before the academic year begins.
He said the eligible students will be selected through a committee comprising the representatives of the DMK-front parties. Interested students can apply through www.ijkparty.org before June 15. The other two promises will also be implemented within three months, he added.
He said he will give top priority to sort out the drinking water problem of his constituency by erecting water tanks and bore-wells. He plans to spend the entire MPs local area development fund of `five crore for desilting the water bodies and to approach the Union Government for the long-pending rail link between Ariyalur and Namakkal via Perambalur and Thuraiyur and for the early establishment of the special economic zone at Perambalur.
To a question, he said the IJK will face the local bodies election in Tamil Nadu as part of the DMK-front.
