BJP’s religion ploy won’t work: Uttam Kumar Reddy

He said the TRS supporting amendment to the Right to Information Act was indication of a secret understanding between the BJP and the TRS.

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday said that there was no scope for the “communal politics” of the BJP in the state.

During an informal interaction with newspersons, Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the BJP was only an urban party and its success was only hype created by the media. He said the Congress is the only alternative for the TRS in Telangana state.

He said the TRS supporting amendment to the Right to Information Act was indication of a secret understanding between the BJP and the TRS. He said the Congress would challenge the new Municipal Act of the TRS before court and that it would not survive the judicial scrutiny.

Maintaining that the party was preparing the cadre for the municipal elections, he said it was unfortunate that the government was restricting the rights of elected representatives in urban local bodies by giving more power to the district collectors.

Mr Reddy asked if the local representatives could lose their jobs if they failed to nurture 85 per cent of saplings planted in their respective wards as part of the Haritha Haram drive, why the same action could not be taken on TRS ministers.
