Bund breaches due to shoddy Mission Kakatiya works: DK Aruna
NIZAMABAD: BJP national vice president D.K. Aruna alleged that the inferior quality of works of Mission Kakatiya caused the floods as the bunds of several tanks breached in various districts in Telangana. She alleged that the ruling BRS leaders got commissions in the repair works of tanks and check dams. As a result, the sub-standard works caused breaches to the bunds of waterbodies across the state, she alleged.
Aruna, along with BJP leaders, visited the flood-affected areas, including Mothe village which was adopted by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, in Nizamabad district on Sunday. She said that BRS leaders posed for photo ops at check dams, but they failed to come to the rescue of the farmers, whose standing crops were damaged by floods. “The rain-hit farmers can’t be compensated fully. But, at least, a minimum aid should be given to them, which will help them resow or recover the damaged crops,” she said. The BJP leader demanded an inquiry into the shoddy works and action against those responsible for irregularities in the Mission Kakatiya programme, questioned Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao how could he help the farmers across the nation when he was not able to extend aid to the farmers in his state.
BJP district president Baswapuram Laxminarsaiah, party leaders Aleti Mallikarjun Reddy, Medapati Prakash Reddy, Paidi Rakesh Reddy and others were present. The farmers poured out their woes to the BJP delegates.
