Mysura warns of Rayalaseema state stir
Hyderabad: Former minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Dr M.V. Mysura Reddy has made serious observations about the development, or rather the lack of it, in Rayalaseema. “The youth of Rayalaseema are frustrated as there is no development in the region. This will lead to a new bifurcation movement and the government of Andhra Pradesh will be responsible for it.”
Mr Reddy launched his two books “Astitvam” and “Idee Sangathi” at the Press Club of Hyderabad on Tuesday. The books are about the Rayalaseema movement, the political issues connected with the area and the problems of the public. In the books, he has stressed upon the problem of water shortage in the area, that has led to many issues faced by the farmers.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr Mysura Reddy said, “The people of Rayalaseema have been facing many problems for several decades. I have been politically inactive for the past five years. I have spent this time researching their problems and have subsequently written many articles in newspapers to explain the problems of Rayalseema. Later, after receiving some suggestions, I have written these books. When the books were launched in Rayalaseema, the youth questioned me about what was being done for the development of Rayalaseema. It is true that the youth of the region are frustrated and I am sure that a new Rayalaseema movement will begin soon. The government of Andhra Pradesh has to think out of the box and not just do centralised development.”
Mr Reddy added, “The government is doing centralised development leading to Rayalaseema’s specific issues not being addressed and the region is not showing any development. Development will always depend on the water availability in the region. There are a few rivers flowing through Rayalaseema region but unfortunately we are unable to use the resources. Though there were many chief ministers who had come from the region, the development is zero. The government should take responsibility to develop the region before some regional political parties are born. In fact, during the bifurcation, the Rayal-seema people had demanded a separate state in the name of Greater Rayalaseema that would include Nellore district in it.”
Rayalaseema leader Mr Bhumana Subramanyam Reddy said, “We have seen the frustration in the youth of Rayalaseema. Many people are ready to take up a movement again. If their frustration reaches to a certain level, this will definitely lead to the formation of another state.”
