BJP demands action against TNGO chief for campaigning for TRS
HYDERABAD: The BJP on Monday asked the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take action against the office-bearers of Telangana NGOs Association for violating service rules and campaigning for the TRS in the Munugode byelection.
The party, in a representation to the ECI, which it submitted to Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj, said that the TNGO president M. Rajender was campaigning for the TRS candidate, despite having been fined for a similar offence during the Nagarjunasagar by-election earlier.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Vikas Raj, BJP state secretary S. Prakash Reddy said that they could file a criminal case against the TNGO president. “Either the state government must take immediate action or we will initiate the required proceedings,” he said.
The BJP spokesperson and advocate Rachana Reddy said that service rules prohibit government servants from canvassing or campaigning for any political party.
