HC Order: Naidu Cannot Take Part In Political Rallies

Naidu has also been instructed not to make any public comment in connection with the AP skill development scam case

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu not to participate in political rallies and avoid giving interviews to the media during his four-week bail period from Tuesday.

Naidu has also been instructed not to make any public comment in connection with the AP skill development scam case.

When the HC granted interim bail to Naidu for four weeks up to November 28 on medical grounds, the state CID filed a petition before the single judge bench of Justice Mallikarjuna Rao, pleading that certain conditions be imposed on the TD chief for the entire duration of his bail.

The court heard both additional advocate general Ponnavolu Sudhakar representing AP CID and Naidu’s counsel Dammalapati Srinivas before issuing the order of restrictions on Naidu. The TD chief should restrain himself till the disposal of the petition, which is listed for hearing on November 1, to allow the respondent to file the counter.

Earlier, the AP CID’s counsel requested the court to order that Naidu should confine himself to medical treatment alone and should not give any press interviews nor make any public comments in connection with the case. Two officers of the rank of Dy SPs should be asked to accompany Naidu to monitor and submit their report regularly to the court in this connection, the court was urged.

Naidu’s counsel opposed such conditions and requested the court to grant time till Wednesday to file a counter on it.
