Bhagwat seeks Hindu unity in Bengal

He elaborated, “Bharat has a nature, and those who thought that they could not live with that nature, they made their own separate country...Hindus move forward by accepting the diversity of the world. Selfless work of over 1,30,000 RSS volunteers without financial compensation nationwide contributes to India’s progress”

Kolkata: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat called for unity of the "Hindu society" on Sunday. He was speaking at an RSS rally in Burdwan East of West Bengal which was allowed by the Calcutta High Court after the state police denied permission.

Mr Bhagwat said, “What does the Sangh want to do? If this question has to be answered in one sentence then it will be that the Sangh wants to unite the entire Hindu society. Why unite the Hindu society? Because, the society responsible for this country is the Hindu society.”

He elaborated, “Bharat has a nature, and those who thought that they could not live with that nature, they made their own separate country...Hindus move forward by accepting the diversity of the world. Selfless work of over 1,30,000 RSS volunteers without financial compensation nationwide contributes to India’s progress.”

The RSS chief added, “That’s why we are saying we are not doing this to be successful; we are doing this to make a meaningful contribution to the progress of India. The Sangh has simply given values, thoughts and inspiration.” He then urged the RSS volunteers to broaden their influence and collaborate to reinforce their shared ideology.

“Hindus are those who embody India’s characteristics and keep its diverse population united. RSS aims to organise Hindu society because it constitutes the responsible core of the nation. My appeal is to understand Sangh, come within its fold. There is no fee for this. No membership is required. You can come here at your will and leave if you do not like,” Mr. Bhagwat said.

According to him, the work taken by the RSS can only be compared to what Lord Buddha did on developing character centuries ago. Mr Bhagwat pointed out, “It is important to understand the work of the Sangh, because such work is happening in the country after centuries. I believe that after Lord Buddha, this is the first time that such a work of developing the character of people is being undertaken in the entire country. It takes time to understand such a work.”
