BJP Takes Welfare Way To Win Kerala Elections

The party pledges AIIMS, High-Speed Rail, women's welfare

Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP promised ₹3,000 a month pensions for women and vulnerable groups, a ₹2,500 per month grocery and healthcare ‘recharge card’ for poor households, as well as two free LPG cylinder in a year, and the establishment of the state’s first AIIMS, in its manifesto for the Kerala Assembly elections.

The party also pledged to order a CBI probe into the Sabarimala gold theft. Titled ‘Vikisita Kera lam’, the document outlines the BJP’s vision for the 2026-31 period. Un veiling the manifesto, BJP president Nitin Nabin said the NDA had emerged as a viable alternative in Kerala. “People have seen through the match fixing taking place in Kerala between the LDF and UDF for decades. They are determined to act this time,” he said.

Key highlights of the manifesto include a ₹3,000 pension welfare initiative for women, promised for women heads of poor households, widows, and senior citizens above 70. The party has promised to launch a ‘Bhakshya Arogya Suraksha Card’ for women from poor and BPL families, with a monthly recharge of ₹2,500. Beneficiaries can use the card to purchase groceries and medicines. In addition, the party has promised two free LPG cylinders annually for poor families, to be given during Onam and Christmas. It also pledged to expand Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY to cover every Malayalee and assured a broader safety net during medical emergencies. Another major promise is to provide a free water supply of 20,000 litres per month to households and MSP coverage for all crops that need support. Other promises include a high-speed railway corridor connecting Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur, introducing metro trains in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.
