Visakhapatnam: Chief electoral officer Mukesh Kumar Meena inspected the strong rooms on Saturday where the EVMs are kept on the premises of AU Engineering College.
In this context, the CEO emphasised the importance of following security standards and taking strong actions to ensure the safety of the rooms. District officials have been advised to maintain high alertness. He said that any untoward incident should be avoided.
District election officer and collector Dr A. Mallikarjuna and police commissioner Dr A. Ravi Shankar accompanied him when he examined the strong rooms in Vizag. They inspected the EVMs of seven Assembly constituencies and the Visakhapatnam Parliament seat.
Mukesh Kumar Meena carefully observed the locks and seals of the doors. The officials were asked to monitor CCTV cameras. After the inspection, he signed the log book. The collector has been advised to ensure three-fold security and continuous monitoring of the EVMs. He emphasised that all necessary precautions should be taken in accordance with the rules of the EC. Joint collector K. Mayur Ashok, ROs, and AROs of their respective constituencies were also present.
