Logo, Anthem a Diversionary Tactic by Congress: Telangana BJP
HYDERABAD: BJP General Secretary Dr Kasam Venkateshwarlu on Thursday accused the Revanth Reddy government of trying to divert public attention from real burning issues in the state by raking up a new state logo and state anthem. It wants to create misconception, confusion and provoke sentiments of people by giving leaks about removing the Charminar and Kakatiya Kala Thoranam from the state emblem.
Addressing a presser, Kasam Venkateshwarlu said the Congress government has failed to take any policy decision regarding 10 years of Telangana formation celebrations. “If the state government wants to change the official logo, it can form a committee, draft guidelines and invite intellectuals, poets and activists of separate Telangana movement for discussion and can take an amicable decision,” he said.
“Charminar was constructed by invaders whereas Kakatiya Kala Thoranam was constructed by local kings and it reflects the great culture and heritage of this region. It would be incorrect on the part of the government to removes Kakatiya Kala Thoranam,” he warned.
Poets and artistes have played a key role in Telangana movement. Making changes in the state song by ignoring poets, artists and not taking opinion from people, is a big mistake by the Congress government, he said.
Charging that Revanth Reddy was not aware of Telangana agitation history as he never took part in Telangana movement, Venkateshwarlu asked why Revanth Reddy is making all the changes and is not this an attempt to get blessings of Sonia Gandhi?
Venkateshwarlu said the Telangana JAC chairman Kodandaram had forgotten the agitation by Telangana activists by joining with Congress. Revanth Reddy government is facing ire of people within six months of coming to power, he said.
