MP: Remains of specially designed pillar found in Bhojshala complex, claims Hindu outfit activist
Bhopal: Remains of a specially designed pillar have been found in the complex of Bhojshala temple- Kamal Maula mosque in Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh during the scientific survey of the monument by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
This was revealed by a Hindu outfit activist who was present during the survey of the site by the ASI.
“Remains of a specially designed pillar have been found during the excavation of a particular area in the complex”, Gopal Sharma, an activist of a Hindu outfit, said.
The scientific survey of the monument is currently being conducted by ASI as per the recent directive by the Madhya Pradesh high court.
Mr Sharma also claimed that a circular base of a spire of a temple was also recovered during the excavation in a portion of the complex by the ASI four days ago.
The circular base is made of stone and still intact, he said.
However, his claim is contested by the Muslim side which said that the object may have nothing to do with a temple.
Meanwhile, the Geological Survey of India (GSI) has completed its survey in the complex to explore the underground at the site to find out if there were any remains of historical importance with the use of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR).
The five-day survey was wound up on Thursday.
The GSI is scheduled to analyse the findings in its lab before preparing the final report for submission to the ASI, official sources said.
Earlier, images of Hindu deities were found in a pillar situated in the sanctum sanctorum of the Bhojshala temple during excavation of the site by the ASI, Mr Sharma claimed.
A major controversy broke out when Hindus and Muslims staked claims over the monument.
While Hindus worship in the Vagdevi (Goddess Saraswati) temple located on one side of the complex on every Wednesday, Muslims offer namaz in a mosque situated on the other side of the complex on every Friday.
The Madhya Pradesh high court has recently directed the ASI to conduct a scientific survey of the monument to find out if a mosque was built by destroying a temple at the site to end the row.
